7 Great Spots for Outdoor Family Photos in Las Vegas

Published On December 9, 2013 | By Toni Spilsbury | Community, DIY, Family, Fun

Family photo shoots for holiday cards are moving from the photography studio to the great outdoors.

There are many reasons why I love outdoor family portraits. Natural or man-made backdrops native to Southern Nevada bring an added authentic element to my Christmas photos. Sending family photo cards to friends and family out-of-state are even more meaningful against a beautiful backdrop of our hometown instead of a fake fireplace. Outdoor shoots also allow for more candid shots instead of the “everyone freeze and smile” portraits.

The ladies of RECESS and I, along with the help of some fabulous local photographers, have compiled a list of the best outdoor spots for family photos in Southern Nevada.

1. Lake Las Vegas

With a large man-made lake, a towering lit Christmas tree and the beautiful architecture from the bridge and resorts, Lake Las Vegas is our top choice for outdoor family photos because of the many options for gorgeous backdrops. In fact, from December 7th to the 21st you may even find Santa with strolling carolers along the streets of MonteLago Village.

These beautiful family photos were taken by Trevon from Canico Studios. Family photography sessions at Lake Las Vegas are currently being scheduled by Canico Studios by calling (702) 755-9621, and mention RECESS to get a $99 mini session!
