Christmas Tree Recycling Las Vegas Drop-off Locations

Published On December 26, 2013 | By Melly Allen | Family, Green Living, Holiday

For many reasons, families choose to purchase a real tree when celebrating Christmas. I personally know a few families that choose this option for their children with special needs; for them Christmas is more about exploring their children’s senses. For myself, it’s about the nostalgia that comes with it as it really reminds me of childhood and family times.

For whatever the reason, once Christmas has passed you are left with an entire tree to dispose of. Lucky for Las Vegas residents, The Springs Preserve has solved this problem with local Christmas tree recycling drop-off locations! This sustainability effort has been in place since 2001 and has seen great success. In the 2012-13 season more than 15,000 trees were recycled.

Each year from Dec. 26 to Jan. 15, you can take your cut Christmas trees to one of more than 30 convenient drop sites throughout the valley.

The Christmas Tree Recycling Committee, composed of local government agencies, nonprofits and businesses, has worked to keep Christmas trees out of Southern Nevada’s local landfills since 2001. – Springs Preserve

How to Prepare Your Tree

Before dropping off your tree, remove all non-organic objects such as lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments and nails. Foreign objects can contaminate the mulch and ruin the chipper. Flocked trees cannot be recycled.

Tree Pick Up

1-800-GOT-JUNK will pick up trees from homes for $30. The fee includes removal of tree and clean-up of pine needles. The tree will then be dropped off at one of the designated recycling drop-off locations. The service is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during the Christmas Tree Recycling program season.

Get Involved – Springs Preserve

The Christmas Tree Recycling Committee invites you to get involved and make this year an even bigger success. Make a commitment today and witness the benefits of your generosity for years to come by contacting us at (702) 822-7700.

Your contribution is tax-deductible through the Conservation District of Southern Nevada. In addition, your name will be printed on a poster to be displayed throughout the Las Vegas Valley (if your pledge is received by the annual deadline), and your organization name, linked to your website, will be displayed on this page.
