Nevada Health Link Deadline- Last Minute Help Is Here

Published On March 28, 2014 | By Toni Spilsbury | Community, Health

Calling all procrastinators! The deadline for signing up for health insurance through Nevada Health Link is just days away on Monday, March 31st.

Enrollment for health insurance mandated by the Affordable Care Act via Nevada Health Link is much lower than anticipated. One of the reasons for low enrollment could be difficulty in navigating the Nevada Health Link website. If you’re one of the many individuals who have found it nearly impossible to use the website to sign up through Nevada Health Link, we have a few tips that could help.

Tip #1- Work With A Broker

We’ve been informed by a handful of Nevada Health Link enrollees that while they could not sign up through the website on their own, they were able to easily sign up through an insurance broker certified to work with Nevada Health Link.

According to William Cooper, a local certified Insurance Specialist with Independent Capital Management, “A lot of people have busy lives and a lot on their plate. So, why spend time navigating the website on their own when working with a certified broker is free?” Talking with a broker gives you the shortest and quickest path to finding and enrolling with the most appropriate health insurance coverage to fit each individual need. William Cooper can be reached at Independent Capital Management, 8330 W Sahara (702) 362-6040.

Tip #2- Health Fair and Health Insurance Enrollment Event

The Ramirez Group and Nevada Health Link are hosting an all-day Health Fair and Health Insurance Enrollment Event at Cashman Center this Saturday, March 29th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The fair is to mark the end of the open enrollment period for health insurance through Nevada Health Link and hopefully help procrastinators get enrolled. Enrollment assistance in both English and Spanish will be available and Division of Welfare & Supportive Services staff will be available for anyone looking to sign up for health insurance or Medicaid before the March 31st deadline.

The fair will also have free health screenings, medical resources, fitness demonstrations and educational information.

Another Extension? Another Chance?

Is there another extension for enrolling with Nevada Health Link? Due to problems enrolling on the Nevada Health Link website, another extension has been issued for participants who have already set up an account in the system. Even with the extension, however, Mr. Cooper encourages Nevada residents to not procrastinate anymore, “This is your last chance. I don’t know if they’ll give another extension.”
