Recess Launches: Press Release

Published On March 13, 2013 | By Toni Spilsbury | Community, Technology, Women

On March 11, 2013 RECESS launches and The Sandbox Revolution begins!

This innovative blog-based online magazine focuses on women in Southern Nevada.  Our viewpoints.  Our passions.  Our voices.

Embracing the progressive pipeline of information that is the independent Blogger network, RECESS provides a dynamic platform that will showcase the diversity and depth of the women of Southern Nevada.  Recess will transmit the cultural, creative and community pulse from our unique perspectives via thoughtful opinions, well-researched profiles, and the unapologetic pursuit of ideas and issues.  This is the Sandbox Revolution!

“Recess is a community for Las Vegas women to share and inspire through honest insights.  From education and healthcare to entertainment and technology, Recess readers look to other women in their community for opinion and facts as it relates to them,” says Founder and Editor, Toni Spilsbury.  She goes on to state, “The power of the blogger is undeniable as Forbes Magazine recently described in an article, ‘Does Anyone Really Take the Mom Blogger Seriously?’  The answer was “yes”, by the way.” Bloggers typically have a loyal following, especially within their niche area.  They also have a strong social media influence and know how to use outlets like Twitter and Facebook to reach the widest audience.

Topics as wide ranging as diaper dilemmas and political action: foodie adventures and the critical mass of GMO’s in our food supply: how we entertain and what entertains us: will be integrated with real time activities, contests, news and events.  Women make 80% of all purchasing decisions.  RECESS understands that, as women we are a powerful force in the marketplace, in addition to our families, communities and government.  Providing distinctive media outlet for our matchless population is the driving force for RECESS and we encourage all women to join The Sandbox Revolution.

RECESS is where mainstream media and advertising crossover into modern online media and the blogger network.  Inherent in our format is Social Media Integration on every level; creating a highly inventive, targeted and results-based advertising experience.  RECESS is for businesses that have moved past costly “pay-per-click” advertising and are ready to tap into visually stimulating content-drive e-commerce.

The ladies of RECESS know social media!  We offer full-service social media campaigns including:

  • Blogger Events
  • Blogger Product Reviews
  • Facebook Campaigns, Contests & Sweepstakes
  • Website & E-Commerce Consultation
  • Tweet-Ups & Twitter Parties
  • Twitter Account Management
  • Twitter Bootcamp for Business

In addition to news, insights and opinions straight from the Blogger Network of Southern Nevada, RECESS will interconnect small and large businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals.  This is where inventive, original writing and modern technology meet and create an ever-constant flow of expression and opportunity.

About The Author

Toni Spilsbury is a blogger, brand strategist and social media producer in addition to being a philanthropist and mother…. but not in that order. From busy corporate gal to even busier mom of four, one with special needs, Toni established an online connection with today’s on-the-go moms as someone who understands the unique demands of working moms. In 2005, Toni co-founded the Nevada Blind Children Foundation and began working to build the first school for the blind in Nevada. With a passion for cooking, creating her own recipes and a desire to merge her family life and career, Toni wrote a book The Organized Cook in 2009 before embarking on a journey through branding, blogging, social media and e-commerce that gained her an insight and passion for the unique niche of content-driven e-commerce. Toni’s second book, Because of Connor, is due out in late 2013 which gives readers an insight into the unique struggle of life’s ups and downs when set against the backdrop of caring for and coming to grips with a severely medically fragile son.
