Looking For Kid-Friendly Restaurants? Recess Recommends These Eateries
Las Vegas is known for its fine dining. We have some of the best five star restaurants in the country and celebrated chefs from all over the world come to our city to open new places to showcase their culinary delights. However, the last place I would take my kids would be Guy Savoy in Caesar’s Palace or Wolfgang Puck’s Spago because those places are not meant for a family of five, especially when two of those five are under ten years of age (unless it’s a really special occasion). So where does one take their children in a city known for decadent luxury when all you want is a kid-friendly atmosphere? Well, here at Recess, we know such places do exist in Las Vegas. Here are a restaurants where you can definitely make it a family affair.
This is a family owned and operated pizzeria located in the Southwest part of Las Vegas. They have fantastic food (not just pizza) and the atmosphere is perfect for families. They have a small arcade area and separate dining for parties and sports teams. They are even home to the 10 pound Monster Pizza Challenge. I’m watching my weight so I may need to pass on that.
Although it has “brew” in the name, BJ’s Brewhouse restaurant is actually a great place to bring kids, especially if you have picky eaters in your brood. BJ’s has a stellar kid’s menu and try very hard to please your child’s palate. Due to the lively atmosphere and children’s menu/coloring mat, your kids will feel entertained, even if they’re just waiting for their meal. Just a note: They brew excellent root beer!
If your family is in the mood for Mexican food, Lindo Michoacan is a great place for families with children. Not only is the food delicious (and very authentic), they have a Mariachi band to liven things up. Even if you have the child that refuses to eat anything but chicken fingers or hamburgers, never fear! They will make it for your kids if you request it. They even have fries. Go figure.
Expose your kids to a little French (because we all know how they would do at a real French restaurant) and take them to Mimi’s Café. Decorated with a New Orleans-style flair, Mimi’s Café is great for kids because the kid’s menu is very tailored for children’s palates. They also have the Student Recognition Program for students K-6 which basically rewards them with a free meal for doing well in school. Recess loves that!
Want to take your kids for some Southern cooking and great BBQ with a festive ambiance that reminds you of eating on Grandma’s porch? Then Lucille’s BBQ is just the place. Not only do they have a very cute and creative children’s menu, they also have a gluten free one as well. Currently, kids eat free on Tuesdays. Can’t beat that!
Named one of the top 10 family restaurants by Parents Magazine, Claim Jumper is a fun place to take kids mainly because of their awesome Little Jumpers menu. It has quite a variety including “build your own pizza” because we all know kids like options.
Pizza and buffet equals happy kids! Cici’s Pizza is a great place for families because its inexpensive, has a great selection of pizza and sides and it’s okay to be loud. Great for parties or just a quick night out with the kids, Cici’s will not disappoint.
It’s psychedelic . It’s groovy. It’s Rambo’s Kitchen. Located near Mountain’s Edge, this 60’s themed restaurant will definitely take you back in time. If your children don’t care for the decor, that’s totally cool! The food will more than make up for it.
It may be located on Las Vegas Blvd, but this Italian restaurant is worth the trip. Maggiano’s not only has a kid’s menu but also a family-style one as well. So you can order large portions for your entire family and get a better price.
How about some Asian cuisine? According to their website, kids love Benihana’s and Benihana’s loves kids. With a menu rich in chicken, steak and shrimp, Benihana’s tailored their kid’s menu to tempt those tiny taste buds.
Located near Anthem, Layers Bakery and Cafe is a perfect place for breakfast, lunch or just a quick snack. Made fresh with organic ingredients, Layers offers quality homemade food (and even gluten-free) and offers a quaint atmosphere to boot. If you order the PB&J, you have a choice of their homemade jams & jellies. Yum!
