The moms and ladies of RECESS love events that bring community together, especially when great food and entertainment for the kids are involved. What makes the upcoming Circus Garden Party, hosted by Create A Change Now, so exciting is that it’s centered around educating families on healthy eating in a fun atmosphere.

Local non-profit, Create a Change Now, is hosting its first fundraiser Circus Garden Party on Saturday, September 7th from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Historic Fifth Street School. The circus-themed event will have activities for all ages including stilt walkers, jugglers, face painting, balloon art, live music as well as educational components such as how to plant vegetables and healthy cooking demonstrations. Guests can also sample cuisine from local restaurants including Bradley Ogden’s Hops & Harvest, Poppy Den by Chef Angelo Sosa and Rachel’s Kitchen. fresh52 Farmers & Artisan Market will also be on hand with fresh produce. “Our goal is to fight childhood obesity which has become a national epidemic in this country. With our first big fundraiser we are hoping to reach a large audience so this event is geared to entertain and appeal to the entire family,” said Melissa Blynn, executive director of Create a Change Now.  “We hope the community will join us for what is sure to be an afternoon of fun.”

The event is open to the public. Early bird tickets are on sale now and start at $65 for couples and $40 for an individual ticket. Groups of four kids under 12 are free with purchase of adult tickets. Tickets are available on Ticket Cake.

I’ll be there with the kids and will be snapping photos to post on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, so if you’re not able to make it, you can follow along.

I hope to see you there!
