Welcome Vegas @TechCocktail Downtown Las Vegas
What Is A “Tech Cocktail” ?
Here’s the recipe. Add one part traveling techies with two parts enthusiasm for start-up tech companies, then mix those together for Tech Cocktail. In late 2012 Tech Cocktail opened its Las Vegas office downtown adjacent to the El Cortez.
Traveling the U.S. to energize new areas of growth in the tech business, some may wonder what made Tech Cocktail choose Las Vegas as it’s newest destination. The rest of us, I’m sure, already know the answer- the Downtown Project. Tony Hsieh’s vision for Downtown Las Vegas, when complete, will reshape our community as the next “Silicon Valley”. With a proven track record, Tony Hseish’s goal is to impact the local economy with substantial growth in one of the fastest growing industries in the world. “Something exciting is happening in the Las Vegas tech scene. So we will work with Tony Hsieh and his team to apply the knowledge we’ve acquired from supporting start-up ecosystems in Chicago, DC, and the 20+ other tech communities we’ve worked with over the years and see where it can go.” says Frank Gruber of Tech Cocktail.
The ladies of RECESS and I recently attended the first Tech Cocktail in Downtown Las Vegas. We got to hear pitches from local tech start-up companies and vote for our favorite pitch (via social media, of course). It was interesting to catch a glimpse of how these young techies are wanting to change the world and our community, and I was intrigued to hear how many are putting the focus on ways to save the planet and support local and national charities.
After the mixer, the ladies and I decided to grab a nightcap at Commonwealth. Read my review here:
