Friday Entertainment Roundup: RECESS Top Picks!
It’s Friday! Wait, it’s Friday in Las Vegas! Adding “in Las Vegas” makes every sentence sound that much better! Try it, I’ll wait…..feels good right?
Anyhow, it’s not just any Friday, it’s the Friday that kicks off Spring Break. So I’m sure you’re looking for all sorts of fun things to do. I also have that covered! You can check out my Spring Break Staycation Ideas for Parents and see my picks on how to keep the kids busy for the extra family time this coming week. If you’re a working Mom or Dad, you can fill your weekend with entertainment, then Editor-in-Chief, Christa Schueler, gives you the 411 on Las Vegas Kids’ Camps.
All my mommy friends will be hitting the theaters for this one at some point this week! Looks funny and I my three-year-old might get through it. Will you be seeing it with the kids or do you consider this a “Redbox” movie (we can wait until Redbox has it)?
The world’s first family embarks on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever.
The movie I really want to see this weekend! It looks good, not too violent (I’m not a blood and guts movie fan), nice effects, and (bonus) good actors. Looking forward to seeing this one, but who am I kidding I’m going to The Croods (enter sad face here).
When the President is kidnapped by a terrorist who seizes control of the White House, disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped within the building. As the national security team rushes to respond, they must rely on Banning’s insider knowledge to save the President and prevent an even greater catastrophe.
I had press seats for this and completely missed my chance to see a grown-up movie, with Tina Fey, that actually looks funny. I wish I would of had a full review on this one guys, but when your little ones come down with the stomach bug, job perks take a back seat. I’d love to hear what you guys think. But Portia is caught off-guard when she makes a recruiting visit to an alternative high school overseen by her former college classmate, the free-wheeling John Halsey. Halsey has surmised that Jeremiah, his gifted yet very unconventional student, might well be the son that Portia secretly gave up for adoption many years ago. Soon, Portia finds herself bending the rules for Jeremiah, putting at risk the life she thought she always wanted — but in the process finding her way to a surprising and exhilarating life and romance she never dreamed of having.
Def Leppard VIVA Hysteria
It opens this weekend at The Joint inside the Hard Rock. It’s their first residency and the first time they’ll play an album all the way through. The venue is a perfect fit and I have a feeling the show will be a huge success. Will they extend their stay in Las Vegas? Only time will tell.

Shania Twain Still The One
Also in a residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. I’ve been meaning to catch this one but have not as of yet. The two-year singer spotlight started back in December of 2012 with plenty of time left to catch it.
