CoBiz: Coworking in Las Vegas

Published On June 5, 2013 | By Melly Allen | Community, For Bloggers, Technology

Coworking can be described as a disruption to the executive suite model. It’s not your typical working environment. It’s a mesh of new generation of workers and unique professionals looking for a space that encourages creativity and fosters a collaborative networking climate. Coworking offers a solution to isolation that many freelancers or remote-workers experience while working at home, it also allows for an escape from the many distractions of home.

We believe we have combined the good parts of an office, a coffee shop, and a community center & are gluing it all together with awesome, creative, brilliant people with vision like you. We are coworkers and believe that when enough of us get together in a common place, a coworking community is born. We are ready to birth that coworking community! – CoBiz

Recently RECESS attended a blogger function with the meeting space sponsored by CoBiz. I’ve only visited one other coworking space in downtown Las Vegas, and at the time I had no clue what coworking was about or whom it was for. I was left unimpressed by the decor and the surroundings did not suggest an atmosphere I’d want to “create” in, let alone connect with others in. Never really understanding what a coworking space embodied, I attended this blogger function.

I know I’m a person driven by aesthetics, especially if I wish to stimulate my creative juices. That being said, when I pulled up to CoBiz, I was immediately impressed by it’s surrounding set in cute boutique-style suites with welcoming adornments that furnished the buildings facade and plenty of parking spots. Greeting the guests was an over-sized patio set that was moved to the outside of the building for the evenings, I instantly felt comfortable attending. I walked through a massive industrial sized rolling door that ran two stories high. As I made my way in, I instantly understood what this space purpose was for!
