Meet The Recess Team
As the Founder of Recess, Toni Spilsbury is also an Editor and Blogger. Toni’s vision is to create an online community for women living in Southern Nevada to share and inspire.
Toni Spilsbury is a Blogger, Social Media Producer and E-Commerce Consultant in addition to being a philanthropist and mother…. but not in that order. From busy corporate gal to even busier mom of four, one with special needs, Toni established an online connection with today’s on-the-go moms as someone who understands the unique demands of working moms. In 2005, Toni co-founded theNevada Blind Children Foundation and began working to build the first school for the blind in Nevada. With a passion for cooking, creating her own recipes and a desire to merge her family life and career, Toni wrote a book The Organized Cook in 2009 before embarking on a journey through branding, blogging, social media and e-commerce that gained her an insight and passion for the unique niche of content-driven e-commerce. Toni’s second book, Because of Connor, is due out in late 2013 which gives readers an insight into the unique struggle of life’s ups and downs when set against the backdrop of caring for and coming to grips with a severely medically fragile son.
As the Chief Editor of Recess, Christa Schueler is also a Social Media Producer, Founding Member and Blogger at Remaking Mommy.
Christa Schueler is an alumna and former employee of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As the Chief Editor of Recess, Christa will apply her knowledge and experience in technical and publication writing, editing and research. Christa, a wife and mother of three, advocates the importance of quality education, better healthcare and helping women to be more community-connected. An avid reader and aspiring novelist, Christa continually develops her creative writing skills both professionally and personally while still pursuing her love of reading and reviewing books. Soft-spoken as a child, Christa learned to find her “voice” and she has a lot to say. Recently, Christa began to chronicle her journey of self-transformation while still managing a busy household. Her Remaking Mommy blog documents her attempts at adopting a healthier lifestyle, organizing the chaos and achieving her ultimate dream of writing a novel.
As the Community Director, Founding Member and Editor of Recess, Melly Allen is the Founder of the Recess Sandbox Revolution where she strives to unite Southern Nevada women by giving them a voice and place to connect and share. Melly is also a major Social Media Producer and Blogger at Pretty Simple Great and Our 702 Life.
Melly Allen is the creative blogger behind Pretty Simple Great and Our 702 Life as well as a virtual assistant for two national deal websites. Melly co-founded COLV: Couponers of Las Vegas in 2012, a money saving resource group on Facebook for Southern Nevada residents that wish to learn how to trim their household expenses through frugal living avenues. In addition to her online presence, Melly is in the process of writing her first manuscript, due out in 2014. As a mother to three school-age children, Melly promotes holistic ways to raise her family, which include mental positivity, drug-free natural childbirth, breastfeeding and self healing techniques. She is an advocate of natural home childbirth and has had two drug-free home births herself. The betterment of life, family, education, and relationships is her passion and life mission.
As the Social Media Director of Recess, Lisa Drake keeps the Southern Nevada Community informed by building a relationship with readers, bloggers and businesses. As a local wine enthusiast, Lisa has been tweeting Las Vegas wine news for over a year and with her blog This Mom Wines.
Lisa Drake is a crazy, busy working woman, wife, mom, community advocate, student and social media practitioner. Her personal and engaging approach to social media has earned her both a good number of followers and great friends in the social media world. Her friendly and fun attitude, and mad multi-tasking skills translates well into her role as Social Media Manager for Recess, reaching out to our Recess community to make sure everyone takes a little time out to enjoy life! Although Kelli Price is a 13-year resident of Las Vegas, she’ll always be a big city girl at heart. Born and raised in New York, Kelli was the Executive Director of a high end catering company

As the Business Manager and Founding Partner of RECESS, Kathy is also a Contributor, giving our readers thoughtful insights into community and women’s issues.
Kathy originally hails from Chicago and spent 12 years in Canada, and 10 years on the island of Maui. Since arriving in Las Vegas in July 2007, she has discovered all that Las Vegas and Southern Nevada have to offer and had found a rich array of natural and man made playgrounds that never disappoint. Kathy has been a Business Manager and Marketing Professional in industries from entertainment to law, interior design to transportation and much more. She has a diverse combination of accounting and analytical expertise coupled with creative talent in writing and strategic marketing. Having started her career on the cutting edge of technology at the inception of computer based graphic design, music and video production, and the development of the internet, she has great enthusiasm for the power to intertwine our technological and inner selves. Kathy has also been a professional dog trainer for over 20 years and has a deep passion for all animals. “Recess to me is the opportunity to solidify the sense of community that so many Las Vegas women desire and deserve.”
